Prospective Students

The Department of Philosophy at Chapman University offers a range of courses from in-depth studies of established thinkers throughout history to introductions to metaphysics and epistemology to more focused inquiries into current issues in medical, business, and environmental ethics. It is stressed that the strength of one’s conviction is a poor substitute for the clarity of one’s thought, and the goal is to train the individual student in the way of sound and rational thought, whether the student wishes to continue on to make his or her own contributions to the field, or merely sees fit to live a life founded upon principles with the confidence that sound thinking warrants.
