The Admission Process

What Admissions Looks For

Chapman seeks to enroll students that will continue our pursuit of excellence. A typical Panther will not only be academically competitive, but desires to be involved outside of the classroom. Most applicants are involved in a variety of extra curricular activities with some long term commitment to at least one specific area. We hope that students wishing to attend Chapman University will make not only academic contributions to the university but outside of the classroom in the Chapman and Southern California communities.

Chapman University values evaluating the whole student. The admission committee reviews a student’s academics which are an integral part of the application process. However, we are cognizant to pay careful attention to the other components of the student’s application carefully reviewing the student’s extra curricular involvement, personal writing sample and recommendation. Chapman values diversity of students and doesn’t hold any minimum requirements for admission.

Planning

The following outline is designed to offer some guidance while planning a student’s high school path.

Recommended Classes

The Admission Office doesn’t require that students take certain courses in order to be admitted, however we do recommend the following courses:

4 Years of English
3-4 Years Math
3-4 Years Social Science/History
3-4 Years Science (With two years lab science)
3-4 Years Foreign Language

These courses will help students not only be competitive admission candidates but successful Chapman students as well. The admission committee looks to see that students are prepared for the general education courses that all students will be taking at Chapman. These courses are recommended by the admission committee to better prepare students for the academic rigor of Chapman University. It is possible for students to be admitted without meeting all of the recommended areas since each application is reviewed on an individual basis.
