International Student Checklist
This page is to help you navigate the application process as an international student.
Undergraduate Applicants (Freshmen):
- Freshmen applicants must take the TOEFL or IELTS (for students whose first language is not English) and SAT or ACT exams.
- International freshman applicants who submit scores of 550 or higher on either the Critical Reasoning or Writing sections of the SAT or a sub score of 24 or higher on either Reading, English or Writing sections of the ACT will automatically have the TOEFL or IELTS requirement waived.
- Chapman's test code for the TOEFL and SAT is 4047. Chapman's ACT Code is 0210.
- Complete The Common Application and Chapman Supplement.
- Complete your Chapman financial certification form (be sure to include supporting financial documents).
- All transcripts must be translated to English before being submitted. Native language versions are also required if not in English.
Undergraduate Applicants (Transfer):
- Transfer applicants who have not taken English Composition (with a grade of a C or better) at a US University must take the TOEFL or IELTS exam (for students whose first language is not English).
- Transfer applicants with less than 24 units must take the SAT or ACT and submit all high school transcripts.
- Chapman's test code for the TOEFL and SAT is 4047. Chapman's ACT Code is 0210.
- Complete The Common Application and the Chapman Supplement.
- Complete your Chapman financial certification form (be sure to include supporting financial documents).
- All high school transcripts must be translated to English before being submitted. Native language versions are also required if not in English.
- All college/university transcripts must be translated to English. Submit English as well as native language copies of transcripts (if applicable).
Graduate Applicants:
- Complete the Chapman graduate application.
- Complete your Chapman financial certification form (be sure to include supporting financial documents).
- Graduate applicants must take the TOEFL or IELTS exam (for students whose first language is not English or who have not completed their bachelor's degree at an English speaking institution).
- All college/university transcripts must be translated to English. Submit English as well as native language copies of transcripts (if applicable).
- For applicants who have completed their bachelor's degree, submit a copy of your official university diploma in the native language, along with an English translation.
- If only one original transcript or diploma can be issued from the University please send a notarized photocopy instead of the original. Documents will not be returned.
- Applicants who have a GPA below 3.0 in their last 60 units are required to a submit a satisfactory score on an accepted graduation admissions examination as specified by the requirements for the degree to which you are applying.
- Chapman University accepts scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET), and the Miller Analogies Test (MAT).
- All MBA/EMBA applicants must submit scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
