Tuition Exchange Program

Chapman University participates with over 200 other colleges and universities in the offering of free tuition to dependents of all Chapman employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week. The program is as follows:

1. Students who are dependents of Chapman employees select a University from the list of member institutions that belong to the Tuition Exchange Program (see www.tuitionexchange.org).

2. Students who are interested in tuition exchange must begin the process at least 10 months prior to the date they wish to begin classes. Information is available in the Financial Aid Office.

3. The student then applies for admission to the University of his or her choice. If he/she is accepted, then the student applies for the Tuition Exchange Program. Acceptance is conditional upon openings available to Chapman.

4. Openings are only available to dependents of Chapman employees if "credits" in the system have been acquired. This occurs when dependents of employees in other institutions participating in the program are accepted and enroll at Chapman University. For every student accepted at Chapman, Chapman earns "openings" at member institutions. In order to be classified as a dependent, the student must be living at home and be totally financially dependent on his/her parents, subject to verification by the Financial Aid Office.

5. Tuition Exchange applies only to undergraduate work, for a maximum attendance of four years. The program does not apply to part-time, summer, or study abroad programs.

A list of member institutions, eligibility requirements, limitations and procedural information is available through the Financial Aid Office.

This benefit is available to the dependents of active employees who have completed five years of service at Chapman University. Dependents include the employee's current spouse (regardless of age), and children through the end of the academic year in which they attain their twenty-fifth birthday.
