Once You're HiredYou've been hired! When a department decides to hire you, they will give you a Student Employment Form (SEF) which is a one-page document that contains a condensed version of the job description for the position, with space for your name, Student ID and other relevant hiring information. Once the SEF has been completed and all the appropriate signatures have been obtained, bring it to our office. If you haven't worked on-campus before: In order to verify your eligibility to work in the U.S. you will need to bring two forms of ID along with your SEF to our office. Identification requirements include: one photo ID (i.e. a driver's license or Chapman ID) and an employment eligibility ID (i.e. social security card or certified birth certificate). Some documents, such as a U.S. Passport, will work for both requirements. See our complete list of acceptable documents. The documents must be originals, and are required by law in order to employ anyone in the United States. If you are still unsure whether your documents are acceptable, feel free to call us 997-6674 for more information. Your other paperwork will include the W-4 and the Student Work Agreement. The paperwork is usually completed in 10-15 minutes. If you have worked on-campus before: There is no need to bring in ID's unless told otherwise by Student Employment Office. However, you are required to return an SEF and fill out a new W-4 and Student Work Agreement each year. After you've completed the paperwork, we will review the file and contact your department if you've been approved to work. Once your department has been contacted, you can begin working, but not before then! |
