Where do I obtain my W-2 form for tax filing purposes? If you worked on-campus in the previous year, you should expect to receive a W-2 form in the mail by sometime in early February (Federal Law stipulates that W-2 must be distributed by January 31st).
Any student who has lost their W-2 or requires a replacement W-2, please contact the Payroll Office at (714) 997-6877 or payroll@chapman.edu to obtain another copy.
How many credit hours must I be enrolled in to work on campus during fall and spring semesters? Undergraduate students must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six (6) credit hours and graduate students must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of four (4) credit hours. Summer employment requires enrollment in the previous spring and following fall semesters unless you are graduating in August or will be a new student in the fall.
What is the difference between a University Funded position and a Federal Work-Study position? A University Funded position means your employer is charged 100% of your salary. A Federal Work-Study position means your employer is only charged a portion of your salary and the rest comes from your Federal Work-Study award.
How many hours per week can I work? Students in both University Funded and Federal Work-Study positions should always strive to find a successful balance between work, school, and other commitments. Therefore, students are only allowed to work 19 hours per week during the academic year. International students can work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session (per BCIS regulations).
During periods on non-academic periods students are allowed to work up to 40 hours per week.
How do I calculate my weekly work hours so that I do not exceed my federal work-study award amount?
