ED/B 9549 Teaching with Technology for High School Teachers (3 Units)
Single Subject teachers: This course focuses on subject matter teaching methods, the process of integrating technology into curricula, and advocating for technology utilization at the secondary level. Students will learn methods to evaluate and enhance learning. Students will also analyze exemplary lesson plans that incorporate technology, create lesson plans, and units for the secondary grade levels. In addition, an overview of strategies for educational technology leadership will be provided.

ED/B 9910 So You Think You Can Test: Using Local Assessments in Secondary Schools (3 Units)
Teachers are responsible for providing appropriate instruction to an increasingly diverse group of students. Without an accurate means of determining how well students are learning, teachers can only guess at what will create instructional success. In this course, secondary teachers will learn how to develop AND use formative assessments to guide instruction and involve students in their own learning.

ED/B 9971 Overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders (3 Units)
This course is purposed toward familiarizing participants with autism spectrum disorders including high and low functioning autism, Asperger Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Participants will become familiar with each disorder, familiarized with interventions from a systems perspective, an overview of IDEA, least restrictive environment, and other lawful mandates, and finally practical strategies and specialized, scuffled instruction in general education classrooms (elementary and secondary) designed for children with ranging autism disorders.

ED/B 9978 Meeting Academic Needs for Children with Autism (3 Units)
This course is purposed toward familiarizing participants with educational strategies to be used for children with autism spectrum disorders including high and low functioning autism, Asperger Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Opportunities for virtual learning, on the job training, life skills education, and special education law will be offered as an extended understanding in meeting basic educational needs for individuals with autism disorders.

This course is purposed toward familiarizing participants with behavioral support strategies to be used for children with autism spectrum disorders including high and low functioning autism, Asperger Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder in an educational environment. This course will also present long-range behavioral strategies and supports.

ED/B 9990 Social Supports for Children w/Autism Disorders (3 Units)
Participants will become familiar with understanding social characteristics of autism that will be applied within education environments, and participants will be familiarized with social interventions from a systems perspective. Special education requirements will be overviewed. Participants will also be provided with practical social strategies and specialized instruction for general education classrooms.

This course is designed for both experienced educators and newcomers interested in incorporating the reading strategies to help students achieve their educational standards and objectives using current trends and research. This course was designed to focus on evidence-based instructional practices to promote word recognition, fluency, and comprehension, along with procedures to assess children's development as they move from emergent literacy to learning to read and into the reading to learn stage.

ED/D 9543 Building Better Instruction with Technology (3 Units)
This course is designed for educators across all content areas, as well as all grade levels. Many of the strategies will use Internet based research. In addition, students will analyze the core concepts of how Web 2.0 is affecting learning environments and explore the combined power of research-based instructional strategies and technology to engage and motivate diverse populations of students including students with exceptionalities and diverse learning styles.

In this basics course, you will be able to define coaching and the history of coaching, differentiate instructional coaching from other coaching practices, understand coaching as a mediation process, evaluate theoretical best practice, and begin planning your role as an Instructional Coach through contributing to the work in your practice. After taking this course, you will be theoretically informed and ready to support your instructional coaching processes.

This course is designed to teach Instructional Coaches effective integration and development of Professional Learning Communities in an educational environment. Participants will learn effective group facilitation, training techniques, agenda setting, curriculum mapping, and specific strategies for overcoming obstacles to implementation, supported by research based practices ensured to produce positive impacts on the educational environment.

ED/D 9563 Communication and Instructional Coaching (3 Units)
In this course, participants will be able to define and utilize the six main attributes of effective coaching communication. After taking this course, participants will be theoretically informed and ready to support their instructional coaching processes by using these communication practices with staff and modeling them to students in the classroom.

ED/D 9564 Targeted Instructional Strategies and Instructional Coaching (3 Units)
This course addresses the demands and complexity of the work involved with Instructional Coaching. Topics that will be explored include lesson planning with colleagues, developing instruments that increase capacity, steps included in pre and post observations, and gradually introducing video tape in the educational environment to increase performance of the Instructional Coach and the teaching staff. This process-oriented course will culminate with a Virtual Portfolio as the final assessment piece that could be used in a job interview for an Instructional Coach position.

ED/B 9045 Teaching with Technology, Level II (3 units)
This course builds on the skills acquired in a Technology Level I course. The purpose of the course is not only to expose students to the wide variety of technological tools that can be used in teaching, but also to bring each student to the point at which he or she is able to use these tools with proficiency. Assignments will be project-based. Students will develop curriculum plans, design instructional units, and create technology-rich environments that promote active learning.

ED/B 9145 Health Education for Teachers (3 units)
This course identifies and explores modern concepts of health and health education in schools. Participants will examine current health issues and common health problems in children and adolescents. Topics such as child abuse, suicide, good nutritional health habits, and the effects of chemical use will be covered. Methods that teachers can use to integrate health topics into a variety of curricular areas will be discussed along with resources available online and within a community to help meet the health needs of students and their families.
