- Designed for groups of three or more individuals who would like to get together to discuss a quality book with the purpose of improving professional practice
- Based on a book chosen by participants using the guidelines and rubric provided in the syllabus
- Ideal for after-school planning, grade-level meetings, book clubs, or other venues that encourage meaningful professional discussions
- Can only be taken twice in a calendar year (once between January and June, and once between July and December)
Course Requirements.
Each course requires that participants:
- Establish a group of 3-15 educators who wish to explore a topic as a group rather than individually
- Choose a book based on the instructor's recommended resource list and read 300 pages
- Create a learning circle journal using the example provided in the syllabus
- Complete an action plan based on group discussion and professional reading
- Create a one page end-of-course reflection paper that documents what you have learned and how you plan to use your new knowledge
- A grading rubric is included in the syllabus and each assignment is carefully explained. Your instructor will be available for email consultation
Prices $270 for all participants
After you register, you will be emailed a complete syllabus with detailed directions for course completion. If you require a letter grade, please notify your instructor at the BEGINNING of the course. Letter grades will not be issued after P/NP grade is posted.
