Independent Study courses are project-based courses designed to enhance curriculum development and encourage individual growth. In these courses you may

  • Work at your own pace in a convenient place
  • Choose from many unique and interesting courses
  • Work with or without a computer

General Requirements for Independent Study Courses

  • Read 100 pages per unit from professional books or journals. Many courses allow you to choose a book from a resources list provided by the instructor
  • Complete two to three projects/activities that incorporate your new learning and are relevant to your teaching situation
  • Complete an annotated time log as verification that you spent the required amount of time (15 hours/unit minimum)
  • Complete a one page end of course reflection paper that documents what you have learned and how you plan to use your new knowledge

After you register, you will be emailed a complete syllabus with detailed directions for course completion.
