Community RelationsOur Neighbors ... The Best Part of Being in Old Towne Orange The university values its long-term relationship with the City of Orange, both as a member of the City's business community and as a good neighbor to the City's citizens. A portion of the university is located within the Old Towne District of the City of Orange. In 1954, the University (known at that time as Chapman College) purchased the condemned buildings of the former Orange Union High School campus at its present location at Glassell Street and Palm Avenue, renovating and restoring the buildings and establishing the first four-year, accredited college in Orange County. A Specific Plan For Development The Chapman University Specific Plan, adopted by the City of Orange on March 14, 1989, and subsequently amended, establishes the land uses and zoning of properties within the Specific Plan area.
