The Cognitive Science Lab opened its doors to pursue language comprehension studies in January of 2004. This lab represents Chapman University’s second behavioral research lab and provides Chapman University students with facilities to design and implement behavioral experiments as well as the opportunity to participate in ongoing studies regarding language comprehension. My graduate students and I utilize MAC computers to present stimuli that range from simple single words to advanced discourse levels, which participants then read and respond to with various key presses. We measure reaction time and accuracy of responses to provide data about how the brain processes linguistic information under varying conditions.
