The Psychology in Cinema Laboratory and Library has recently been established to make filmed portrayals of psychologists and psychotherapists available to psychology and film students for research purposes. Both source material and over 1000 films (VHS, DVD or both) with portrayals of psychology or psychotherapy are available and this is the only such library in the world. Films available range from 1899 to the present and include some films available at no other source in the United States. The media portrayal of psychology, especially psychotherapy is a great concern to every major professional organization. This laboratory and library is dedicated to understanding the causes and results of how the profession is portrayed.
