Academic Programs

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Computer Information Systems.

Within the Mathematics major, Chapman offers a Joint Engineering Program with the University of California, Irvine where you earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Chapman and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from UC Irvine in a five-year program.

The Computer Science degree focuses on software development and technology, while the Computer Information Systems degree is the high-tech business degree.

Chapman encourages you to pursue your passion and think broadly about your career goals. Many students will pursue a major in one area of study and a minor in Mathematics or Computer Science. You can combine an interest in physical or biological science and computer science leading to graduate study in bioinformatics, for example. Or, if you have an interest in the more quantitative aspects of political science, psychology, or sociology, you might want to pursue a minor in mathematics. We invite you to think about the possibilities.
