The faculty of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science are committed to the highest quality teaching and scholarship in mathematics and computing. Messr. Poisson's sentiment notwithstanding, we understand our disciplines to belong to a broad intellectual tradition that values practical skills as well as the beauty of elegant solutions to interesting problems. We enjoy helping our students. Even those who will only take one or two classes from us feel that they belong to this same tradition.
