Our mission is to encourage the growth of students and faculty as scholars within the 5000 year tradition of the mathematical sciences, to contribute to society's body of knowledge through substantive research in the mathematical sciences, and to increase awareness and understanding of the intellectual and humanistic contributions of mathematics and computing to society.

Chapman University is committed to providing students in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science with strong foundations in both theory and practical applications to help with the transition between university and the work environment or graduate school.

We offer degrees in Computer Science, in Mathematics and in Computer Information Systems.  We offer a minor in Game Development Programming. In cooperation with UCI, we offer a 3-2 joint engineering program that leads to a a degree in Mathematics from Chapman and a degree in Civil Engineering from UCI.  The department enjoys an excellent reputation for graduates who are in high demand from industry and graduate schools alike. Our alumni have made their careers in a wide variety of high-tech companies including Sun Microsystems, Boeing, Apple Computer, Object Foundry, Anderson Consulting and Intel to name a few. Also, many of our students have gone on to graduate school, or have founded their own software companies.
