Program review is a common practice in most colleges and universities. At Chapman, program review supports the improvement of academic programs through reflection on and evaluation of program quality, based on the stated mission, vision, and priorities of the academic unit and the University. To conduct such an evaluation, faculty examine curricular and pedagogical issues that are tied to stated goals, faculty-student interactions, and teaching and learning outcomes.
The goal of program review is to create an action plan which will respond appropriately to opportunities and problems identified through faculty review.
The program review process includes data collection and review by the department/school, a written report from the department/school, a site visit and report by an external review team, a report and recommendations from the Office of the Chancellor, an advisory report from the Academic Council Assessment Committee, and appropriate actions taken based on the final report and recommendations.
Faculty, chairs, and deans may use this website to find information on program review guidelines and schedules, the program review self-study report and appendix, external reviewers and the program review site visit, links to helpful resources, and whom to contact for assistance.
