Michael Hass is Professor and Faculty Coordinator of the nationally approved graduate program in School Psychology.  He has been on the faculty of the College of Educational Studies since 1997.  Previously, he served as a School Psychologist for over 20 years.  During much of this time he also had a private practice as a Marriage Family Therapist and Licensed Educational Psychologist, where he worked extensively with families of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and learning disabilities.  He also founded and coordinated a bereavement support program for families who experienced the death of a loved one. 

He received his B.S. in Psychology from California Lutheran University and his M.A. in Psychology and School Psychology training from California State University, Northridge.  Dr. Hass earned an interdisciplinary doctorate in Social Relations from the University of California, Irvine.

At Chapman, Dr. Hass has taught courses in assessment, counseling methods, cross-cultural issues in counseling and school psychology and comparative education.  His scholarly interests include brief collaborative approaches to counseling, the efficacy of counseling and psychotherapy, resiliency, and higher education pedagogy.
