Prospective Students

Chapman University’s athletic training education program (ATEP) employs a competency-based, medical education model and is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) via the National Athletic Trainers' Association Education Council (NATA- EC).

In addition to challenging academic coursework, each student admitted to the Athletic Training Education Program will gain hands-on training via three years (6 semesters) of clinical rotations (i.e., field experience) working with certified athletic trainers and other allied healthcare professionals in a variety of settings. Chapman currently utilizes nearly 30 different affiliated clinical sites, including colleges, high schools, physical therapy clinics, physicians' offices, and professional sports teams located in the Orange County and Los Angeles area.

Due to the intensive and individualized nature of these clinical rotations, the ATEP requires an additional application process. Prospective athletic training students must meet competitive program admission requirements in addition to the university's Adams standards. Once admitted to the ATEP, athletic training students must comply with strict program standards.

Important Notes
Transfer Students - the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) has an additional admission process. All students must apply to the ATEP, be interviewed, and accepted to the program before clinical rotations begin. The ATEP requires 6 semesters of clinical rotation experience for all students to graduate.
