Clinical Education

The clinical education portion of Chapman's ATEP is composed of two elements: clinical laboratory coursework and field experience. The clinical education element involves acquisition and practice of athletic training skills. Field experience provides students with multiple opportunities to apply these skills in various clinical environments working with real patients.

Each student admitted to the Athletic Training Education Program will gain hands-on training via three years (6 semesters) of clinical rotations (i.e., field experience) working with certified athletic trainers and other allied healthcare professionals in a variety of settings. Chapman currently utilizes nearly 30 different affiliated clinical sites, including colleges, high schools, physical therapy clinics, physicians' offices, and professional sports teams located in the Orange County and Los Angeles area.

All students will obtain their clinical education from Approved Clinical Instructors (ACIs)– experienced certified athletic trainers– and Clinical Instructors (CIs) at our numerous affiliated sites, as assigned each semester by our Coordinator of Clinical Education.
