The Kauffman Internship Program

The Kauffman Entrepreneur Internship Program provides hands-on entrepreneurial internship experiences to students. Operated through the Leatherby Center in Beckman Hall, this program gives students an “up-close and personal” internship experience with small businesses in Orange County.

As participants in this program, students can:

    • Be paid $8 an hour by the host company
    • Receive academic credit (3 units required per term: fall, spring, or summer recommended)
    • Gain exposure in management level decision-making
    • Determine learning objectives with faculty advisor and host company supervisor

For more information, contact the Leatherby Center at (714) 744-7909 or the Internship Coordinator at (714) 997-6942.

Washington Semester Program

This special internship program provides students the opportunity to work and study in Washington, D.C. for one semester and earn 12-15 upper division credits. Students should be in their junior or senior year, have a 3.0 GPA, and have taken 12 or more units of political science course work. The Washington Semester Program Director, located in D.C., helps each student secure placement in an appropriate office or organization, provides guidance during the internship and evaluates the intern’s work during and at the end of the semester. At the internship site, students are supervised by staff persons who have been briefed by the program director on objectives and academic requirements. Learn more...

Past program participants have interned in Congressional offices, executive agencies, the Supreme Court, political party organizations, interest groups and political think tanks. Students intern four days a week and attend seminar classes one day a week. This program provides a great first-hand experience of working in the very core of United States government, and can lead to larger opportunities, as program alumni have gone on to serve in top Congressional, White House and non-governmental policy positions.
